Resumen

Actualmente, es imposible pensar en la existencia de una empresa sin el uso de tecnologías, además la innovación se ha convertido en un factor determinante de la competitividad y desempeño en una empresa, asegurando a mediano y largo plazo su permanencia en un mercado competitivo y  con necesidades cambiantes.  La presente investigación tiene por objetivo determinar los factores que influyen en la apertura a la adopción de tecnologías de información y comunicación (TICs) y la capacidad de innovación en la pequeña y mediana empresa de Cochabamba, específicamente en el sector industrial. Los datos estadísticos estudiados son el resultado del total de 38 encuestas realizadas a gerentes y ejecutivos que desempeñan su función en una empresa PyMe, en ese sentido, se pudo dar respuesta a las hipótesis planteadas y lograr los objetivos específicos de la investigación.  El análisis de los datos se hizo a través de la técnica de mínimos cuadrados parciales, perteneciente al modelo de ecuaciones estructurales, mediante el programa SmartPLS.  Los resultados obtenidos sugieren que, si bien el uso de las TIC y las prácticas de innovación en empresas PyMe de Cochabamba no afectan significativamente en su desempeño, son imprescindibles para asegurar su permanencia en el mercado.

ABSTRACT
Nowadays it is impossible to think about the existence of an enterprise without the use of technologies, in addition, innovation has become a determining factor of competitiveness and performance in a company, ensuring in the medium and long term its permanence in a competitive environment and with changing needs.


The present research aims to determine the factors that influence the openness to the adoption of information and communication technologies (ICTs) and the innovation capacity in small and medium-sized companies in Cochabamba, specifically in the industrial sector. The statistical data studied are the result of a total of 38 surveys carried out to managers and executives who perform their role in a SME company, that´s why, it was possible to respond the hypotheses raised and achieve the specific objectives of the research. Data analysis was done through the partial least squares technique, belonging to the structural equations model, using the SmartPLS program.


The results obtained suggest that although the use of ICT and innovation practices in SMEs in Cochabamba are not significant in their performance, they are essential to ensure their permanence in the business world.
